Clean Transportation Portfolio Evaluations
IEc has supported NYSERDA’s Clean Transportation programs with evaluation for over a decade. IEc directed a multi-year market characterization and impact evaluation of the Clean Transportation Innovation program, including a market characterization of the electric vehicle and public transit markets in New York, with an emphasis on deployment of electric vehicle supply equipment and electrification of transit. IEc also managed a comprehensive market characterization study of overall transportation technology markets in NYS, employing a snowball survey approach combined with extensive secondary research, focusing on baseline market dynamics and policy barriers affecting options for transportation demand management (TDM) and for plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) infrastructure development and adoption. The TDM analysis included development of a layered geospatial screening tool to support assessment of areas with features supporting or creating barriers to various TDM strategies (e.g., density, demographics such as age, employment concentration, safety).
In 2022, IEc evaluated the deployment of the EV (electric vehicle) Innovation program and Public Transportation and Electrified Rail initiative in NYS, measuring the progress as a result of New York Clean Energy Fund investments. IEc coordinated with subcontractors for primary data collection from NYSERDA’s innovation partners and transit agencies around the state, including in-depth interviews and web survey deployment. Analyzed key metric performance for EVs, EV charging stations, transit, and equitable access to EV technology. The effort culminated in an evaluation report.
