Kim Smet
Senior Consultant
Kim Smet (she/her) specializes in water resources and decision making under uncertainty, with a focus on climate change and adaptation. She has been the lead water resources specialist on nearly 10 World Bank Country Climate and Development Reports, having coordinated the development of water systems models to analyze the tradeoffs between water for food, energy, industry, and urban/rural use under changing climate conditions. She has worked on projects for the World Bank, the Government of Uganda, the Zambezi Watercourse Commission, Delaware Natural Resources and Environmental Control, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the Millennium Challenge Corporation, among others. She is a skilled technical writer, adept at synthesizing complex analytical results and communicating key project insights effectively to diverse audiences. Prior to joining IEc, she worked as an environmental scientist for an environmental consulting firm in Vancouver, Canada, and later managed the activities of the Smart Prosperity Research Network, based at the University of Ottawa.
Kim holds a B.S. in Environmental Science from the University of British Columbia, and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Engineering Sciences from Harvard University.
