Emily Evenden
Senior Associate
Emily Evenden (she/her) specializes in applied machine learning, spatial analysis/GIS, data management, and graphic design. She leads wide-ranging analyses of terrestrial, aquatic, and marine natural resource use across space.
Emily’s current work includes:
- Designing machine-learning methodologies and quality control procedures to map environmental phenomena from satellite imagery.
- Developing geospatial datasets and technical documentation for public distribution by government agencies and for use as legal evidence in court.
- Building interactive, web-based maps that incorporate client and user feedback.
- Creating custom, culturally sensitive maps to facilitate discussion between diverse parties at public meetings and private negotiations.
Emily’s clients include the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Coast Guard, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the World Bank Group, and multiple private law firms.
Emily holds a M.S. in Geographic Information Science from Clark University and a B.A., summa cum laude, in Environmental Studies from George Washington University. Prior to joining IEc, Emily worked as a graduate research assistant as Clark University’s Center for Geospatial Analytics (formerly Clark Labs) where she developed predictive models of urban development and agricultural expansion. She is a member of the Women in GIS professional organization.
