Graphic Design
IEc has a wealth of experience turning complex information into visually pleasing and effective materials. We employ traditional graphic design best practices such as hierarchy, color, and font selection to create compelling design products for print and online use. Whether applying an existing style guide to new products or creating entirely new brand identities, we ensure that the design conveys the message in a clear manner.
IEc applies its design expertise to both print and online products including reports, factsheets, infographics, dashboards, and websites. We perform stock photo research and provide print production services to deliver the final product. We have experience illustrating difficult concepts, and frequently create infographics and other data visualizations.

We are experts in distilling essential messages and presenting those messages in accessible form. Our experience includes creating factsheets, infographics, social media posts, posters, presentations, and other communication materials. We frequently use Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) as well as PowerPoint and Excel. Recent work includes designing 100-page magazine-style documents such as EPA’s climate change and social vulnerability report, the multi-volume Massachusetts Climate Change Assessment, and the Deepwater Horizon Natural Resource Damage Assessment Programmatic Review. Additional design experience includes creating factsheets for the Deepwater Horizon Natural Resource Trustees, a poster series for the Hanford trustees, and infographics for NOAA Fisheries on habitat conservation and the value of oyster habitat.
IEc applies its design experience to websites, online dashboards, and other interactive data tools. We have experiences creating websites for the public, for a group of users behind a password, or a combination of both. Recent projects include designing and building the website for the Deepwater Horizon Natural Resource Trustees, NOAA’s Data & Visualization website for Natural Resource Damage Assessment & Restoration, and several Marine Debris Collaborative Sites for NOAA. We also have extensive experience building online tools such as the Green Infrastructure Wizard (GiWIZ) for EPA and the DIVER system for NOAA.
