Alexandra E. van Geel

Senior Technical Consultant

Alexandra van Geel has 20 years experience in natural resource damage assessments (NRDA), helping clients develop scientifically defensible work plans, reports, and analyses, identifying and managing the efforts of specialized expert teams as needed. She has also provided strategic internal scientific evaluations of available information, coordinated multiple peer reviews, and managed the development of NRDA-specific documents such as Preassessment Screens, Assessment Plans, and Restoration Plans.  Alix’s experience spans a wide range of natural resources, ecosystems, and contaminants, including mining-related metal contamination of freshwater and terrestrial ecosystems, organochlorine contamination, impacts of oil spills on marine/estuarine environments, and sites with complex mixtures of contaminants.  She has particular expertise in the development and evaluation of models used in habitat and resource equivalency analyses. Her work supports clients engaged in settlement negotiations or environmental litigation.

Alix holds a B.A., summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, in Molecular Biology from Princeton University. She pursued Environmental Studies at Murdoch University in Perth, Australia on a Fulbright Scholarship for one year. She also holds an M.S. in Biology from MIT.
