Destroyed oil tankers

As a prime contractor to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) since 1991, IEc has assisted federal and state government agencies in assessing natural resource damages associated with dozens of oil spills, from smaller incidents with localized effects to very large events with wider, long-term impacts.

Over that period, IEc has managed a team of technical experts who are prepared to respond immediately to oil spills and to collect the physical, biological, and economic data that will be central to an accurate assessment of damages. We are also frequently called upon to apply our expertise to the development of rapid assessment tools and guidance documents as well as to the creation of training programs for field assessment personnel.

IEc provided emergency response and overall support for the damage assessment of the 2007 Cosco Busan oil spill in the San Francisco Bay. IEc served as the lead technical expert for the multi-year study of recreational impacts and helped negotiate the multi-million dollar settlement.
